Terms
Terms of use
These terms are drafted but not yet reviewed. Everything marked below needs a lawyer before this site takes real money.
01
Who we are
Needs legal reviewInsert the operating entity’s legal name, company number, registered address and contact email. Every clause below depends on knowing which entity contracts with the customer and under which law.
02
What the service is
Marsbid is an interactive map on which businesses may purchase sponsorship placements over rectangular parcels of the Martian surface. The substance of what is sold is set out in the rules, which form part of these terms.
03
No property rights
Nothing purchased through this service conveys ownership of, or any legal interest in, Mars, any named feature on Mars, or any celestial body. Placements are advertising on a website and nothing more. This clause survives termination.
04
Your content
You warrant that you have the right to use the brand name, logo, description and destination URL you submit, and that they do not infringe anyone’s rights. You grant us a non-exclusive licence to display them on this site for as long as your sponsorship runs.
We may remove any submission that breaches the content standards in the rules.
05
Acceptable use
Do not attempt to interfere with the service, circumvent its rate limits, or acquire territory by any means other than the published checkout.
06
Availability
The service is provided as-is. We do not promise uninterrupted availability, and features may change.
Needs legal reviewDecide whether any uptime or minimum-display commitment is being offered to paying sponsors, and state it precisely. An unqualified “as-is” may not be enforceable against consumers.
07
Liability
Needs legal reviewLimitation of liability, indemnity, warranty disclaimers, governing law, jurisdiction and dispute resolution all need to be drafted for the operating entity and the markets it sells into. We have deliberately not written placeholder text here: an invented limitation clause is worse than none.
08
Third-party material
The Mars model and surface imagery are produced by NASA and are in the public domain. NASA does not endorse this site. Feature names and coordinates come from the IAU Gazetteer of Planetary Nomenclature and are used descriptively. Brand names shown on this site belong to their respective owners.
